'SINGLES' DAY & BROOKLYNS

In our house this year we had a "SINGLES" valentines day (minus nicole and her boyfriend) since Alyssa is happily single, Jenessa is thankful to be single after that quick downward spiral with he who shall not be named, & my boyfriend is 8 hours away, soooo this calls for things dipped in CHOCOLATE! :)

We made our own make shift fondue by melting chocolate chips in our crock pot on the living room floor haha. It was delightful and very sweet!

We had a nice selction of Strawberries, Raspberries, and Gala Apples

Our Valentine TEDDY, hoping to get in on the chocolate feast

On tuesday night Jenessa felt like going to this little restaurant down the road from us called Brooklyns. I had been there once before with Peter for a late lunch and I lovedddd it, so I was happy to go again.
Its a cute little place with this nice atmosphere like Brooklyns obvisously, cute tables and little white lights hang from the ceiling, brick styling and relaxing lighting. During this visit I could have done without the group of middle aged creepy men playing darts about 5 feet from our table that kept awkwardly looking at us, but thats okay we just learned to block them out and enjoy our dinner.

Our appetizers consisted of classic mozza sticks and bruchetta bread

I was having a massssiveee craving for Bruchetta bread because a couple weeks ago it was someones birthday at work, we were on the night shift so we ordered take out to celebrate from this very popular greek place in st catharines Joes Fetas. They have THE MOST SPECTACULAR feta bruchetta bread in the world, its practically to DIE FOR! the bruchetta bread at brooklyns was okay but sad to say it was NOTHING in comparison

Jenessa and Alyssa dined on burgers and fries

Nicole tried her taste buds at a veggie burger, which she reports tasted much like a normal meat hamburger. Also she has umm some sweet potatoe soup i think? I went classic with chicken fingers and fries cause i'm very boring that way : )

Overall the dinner at brooklyns was nice, not at great as i remember the lunch being last time i went, but still nice

TRIP TO PETAWAWA

Recently my boyfriend moved to Petawawa to join the regular forces with the Canadian Army. Therefore it is now my joy to make lovely trips 6 hours northwest of my home to spend time with him :) (and vis versa!) This was my very first trip up on one of my weekends off & heres my story!, featuring us below :)

First I'll give you a tour of Peters little 'home away from home'. He lives in what is called a 'mod' which has 10 rooms on small little floors in a big building and his mod is 'S'. This is alotttt nicer than past rooms which ive had to visit him in especially since he has NO roomates and no large community bathrooms lol His room is pretty straight forward there is a single bed, a dresser and a desk. Theres also a large double sliding door closet for all this army gear, and a seperate closet that peter has his mini fridge/pantry stuff and also he has his own TV stand and TV - duh.

So below is the view of peter locking his door, his friend has a room right across from his and the little bathroom in the centre has a sink and a shower. The next picture is of the level 6 steps down which has 2 other rooms and that bathroom has a sink and a toilet. The same patterns continues for the next like 4 floors down of stairs until the main floor with a little common area, kitchen and laundry room.

Now as you can imagine there isn't much to do in Petawawa, especially in the winter. Luckily one of my favourite things to do is go hiking or explore little nature paths so Peter and I did alot of that over the weekend, like we usually do, but sadly there we not puppy companions to join us this time.

First we a walked to this more municipal paved walking path called the Emerald Necklace, it basically just wraps around a big park and there is a beachy area, its pretty nice.

Where did that shovel come from? :S

This is a beach in the summer, you can see the Petawawa water tower in the back

If you look right in the middle of this photo you can see that the water flows from the river in the back and is basically filtered into the beach area closer to me, i think that is so neat

We took a little random drive around after our walk and stopped by Coldstone Creamery for icecream :) :) offf courseee. and we also made our way over the river and into Quebec just to look around at the scenery. On our travels we saw some of the strangestttttt signs, but i could only capture a few below

four way stop in quebec, just to be very clear!

this sign is RETARDED! and we saw like half a dozen of them, the translation is something along the lines of Watch Carefully for our children while driving. Still messed?!

Panoramic shot of some icehuts on the river

Our second nature excursion was to a more foresty naturery path called Petawawa Terrace and its my new favourite place in Petawawa now, i would love to explore it in all 4 seasons

I dropped my glasses in the little flowy river while trying to cross it, so clumsy urgg, thank gosh recovered them

Peter wasn't really dressed for the hiking occassion but it was still enjoyable

Cooking up some delicious shredded beef in petes room :) - mmmm my mouth is watering (these are phone photos so not so great)

Peter getting ready for his winter ex course this coming week, I would DIE if i had to carry that backpack and sleep in the snow - no thanks!

Just on my way home I had to sneak a photo of this poor sucker in petes building who has obvisouly not gone anywhere in quiteeeeeeeee a while!
