Covered Bridge Park

We took this camping weekend in late July however this was the trip where my camera experienced its unfortunate swim in the creek. So these are my recovered photos from the memory card. This was a family owned camp ground called Covered Bridge Park near Killaloe which was only about a 45 minute drive from the base which was nice. We were a little skeptical going to this camp site being that it is a family owned campsite sooooo you never really know what to expect. We wanted to try something other than a provincial park because sometimes the prices of provincial parks can become a bit expensive for sleeping in a tent and eating out of a cooler. So this weekend was half the price of a prov park weekend, but maybe a few less amenities so it has its goods and bads.

Our camp site was quiteeee sandy as you can tell by the dirt on my feet. I had a nightly feet washing session. This park is owned by some Russian dude who was a little hard to understand but so nice and friendly. The primary reason of the park is like a seasonal place for people and their campers and their then are about 7 little tenting camping sites located near eachother and a couple yurts too. The seasonal campers were exceptionally nice people and all our interactions with them were very pleasant.

Peters grampa gave him this old naptha stove which we were unsure of whether it even worked or not so it took a bit of tinkering

BUT! we got it going :) - well Peter got it going

Check out my nails. Magnetic nail polish, that is what my night shift at work consisted of. It awesome and very addicting but like 10$ for one bottle of nail polish, yikes.

Our night consisted of playing Skip-Bo, which is a confusing silly card game + bananas and peanut butter yummm.

Our site was right near the water and a little marshy froggy area (biggggg frogs). You can see the little dock in the background that was nice to sit on in the sun and our canoe was close by too.

GOOD MORNING LITTLE GUY!

this little bundle of joy made Pete's morning interesting while trying to make breakfast. of course I was sleeping so i missed him :(

Scrambled pancakes - the result of to much water in pancakes, hmm. Tastes the same though :)

Fishing on Round Lake. There was nothing good to fish for in this lake so we didn't catch anything. Plus the boat was acting up so we didnt want to go to far from our camp site incase it just quit.

Our only little catch!

Last memorable photo before the wind blew the chair and my camera into the water - boo :( but it was a great afternoon spent on the dock in the sun resulting in nasty sun burns. The cottage the was located directly across the creek from this dock was play thier outdoor speaker so loud we had great music all afternoon long. perfect

For the rest of the trip we went canoe a few times and went to a little beachy area to swim and play with our volleyball. Good way to spend our short 2 day weekend.

  1. Hahaha! omg that squirrel! It looks just like the one that was up close and personal with Ed and I in Quebec city. Tail straight up in the air like it's getting electrocuted. Peanut butter and bananas? I've had that combo on a sandwich but how were you guys eating it? Why no pictures of the covered bridge!!?
